I have a larger winder that I bought several years ago. Here is why this one is better:Small footprint. I can set it up and wind in a very small area. My other has a huge yarn guide that extends out about 12 inches. I have to put the winder on one end of the table and my swift on the other to make it work.Quiet and smooth. My other has metal gears and is super loud. I have to take it out to the garage every time I want to wind. It also sticks a lot, which means I have to oil it. Which means when I use it, oil flies everywhere.Stable yarn guide. I see how the design of this yarn guide is better than some of the others, based on reviews and videos I've seen. It collapses for storage from side to side other than up and down, so if for some reason it does come loose, the yarn is still basically in same position. It has a very simple way of locking that means you would not have to hold the yarn guide with your other hand. The guide on my other is held with a wing nut that constantly comes undone unless I awkwardly get in there with a pair of pliers to tighten it.Safely clamps to the table. It has rubber pads to protect your table.
