The decorative end pieces could have been left off the mould, leaving the mirror looking just like the OEM one with smooth rounded edges. The interface and CPU seem to work well. Video quality looks good. Both rear and front camera take good quality video. The rear cam not as good but still ok. Night vision works ok. Looks like an infrared photo. In parking lots where there are lights and while driving the video looks much better. I hardwired to an open acc spot on the fuse panel with a fuse tap. Now the unit turns on and off with a turn of the key. Rear cam is mounted on the rear glass below third brake light just under plastic housing and does great in this location. Parking lines come on in reverse but the view in the mirror is not that good except at night. Ambient light from outside overwhelms the display. This is also a problem driving during the day. Adjusting contrast up or down does not help. The display is not meant to be used as a driving aid, mainly for playback and menu settings. The rear back up cam while helpful, I would not trust as a precise guide. I do not know if the cam were mounted above the license plate, if any thing would improve much. Overall I am satisfied but if I had to do it over again I would probably go with one that mounts to the windshield instead. Mainly because of how bulky the mirror cam is. 4 stars just because of the size. Hope this helps anyone looking to buy.Update 12/6 has stopped working twice now. I am not happy. 30+ degree weather. Will not turn on. Rejected the memory card that it had previously accepted. Anything more and it's going back. My comments were not about my misunderstanding of the product description but on the design and manufacture. It could have been made smaller by a better design. Now, I have to say that the camera was worth every cent of what I paid. The high definition of the camera during playback makes it easy to see even the licence plate number of the car that was in front of you. If I ever am ever in a car accident, this would be a lifesaver! Although the front lights of my car are bright enough to see at night, I couldn’t say the same about the back of my car. With night vision incorporated in the camera, I have no need to worry about not seeing what cars are behind me anymore.
