A: I don't know the diameter, but some things might have difficulty getting through the straw if they're hard or very big.

**Q: Is it too big for a 12 oz cup?**
A: Technically no but it will stick out quite a bit. I'd look for something shorter.

**Q: Is this okay for hot liquids too?**
A: Yes, that is what I use, because of having BIG mustache, while drinking my Coffee!
