However the threaded coupling is much too wide to fit through a standard guitar strap button hole, so the hole needs to be punched out to at least 8mm for it to fit. The male piece has a screw thread to go in a pre-drilled hole in a solid substrate. **Q: Do you think this might work on a squier bass given the fact that i would not be able to use the original screws? or could i use the orignal ones?** A: Yes, I have installed these on a couple of guitars and basses. I don’t remember having any problems with the screws. Smooth release and attachment, they don’t stick out much, etc. If you buy these packaged for guitar straps, there are two options, regular and Xlong—the difference is in the length of threading on the top (pull out) section, but the interior, screw on parts are the same for both. In this set, the top is the same as the regular set, but the interior has about 1mm shallower threading. This means pretty much a maximum of about 3mm thickness, so be sure to measure that if in doubt.
