Should last a lifetime! *by B***. on Reviewed in the United States on January 16, 2016* Great little spatula! You can't go wrong with silicone and this is no exception. The spatula is made of steel with a silicone coating so there are no seams for bacteria or food to creep into. The top inch or so of the handle does not have the steel inside so it bends easily in the hand. This may make it ergonomic but I prefer to have something hard to grip onto when I'm stirring or handling a spatula. That would be my only complaint. It is comfortable in my hand and works great for stirring (I was able to stir a thick pot of chili with it) and also easily spreads frosting onto cakes, cookies, etc. I have really enjoyed using it and am sure I will get a lot more use out of it without any degradation of the product. Another bonus is that you do not have to worry about melting like you do with rubber spatulas. I've already donated my rubber ones. You also don't have to worry about discoloration like you do with the rubber ones. Silicone is the wave of the future in cookware and this spatula is riding that wave like a pro! The red color is very pretty and goes well with my other red cookware items. I would definitely recommend this to friends or buy it as a gift for anyone including myself which is what I did. We all deserve to treat ourselves with something special now and then and this would be a great treat for anyone who spends time in the kitchen. I have a tendency to lean my utensils against the inside of a pot or against the edge of a pan as things cook away, and I have consistently managed to melt non-high temp plastics around the handle area. So far this has held up against some pretty significant heat and I haven't seen any damage to the handle-area. Clean-up is a breeze; because there are no sharp-corners or niches in the material, a quick sponging (or cold water rinse) has been sufficient. Even if leftovers crust onto the spatula, I don't need to soak it before cleaning.
