The lid hides contents and keeps them mostly dust-free (not entirely of course, due to open handle ends). I have ten; I've been buying the off-white ones since March 2016 when they were 10quid. It's easy to keep it clean by regularly wiping it over with a slightly damp cloth.They stack fairly well, but if you want more firmly stacking ones look for a range whose boxes slot or nest together.Not wanting to stick possibly unremovable labels on the outside, on six I put six different coloured bulldog clips over the handles and keep a single contents list.Very versatile use. For instance, these are good for storing craft supplies, and also greetings cards as they take standard-sized cards and even slightly larger cards. If you take the box with you anywhere, it's been designed to sit neatly and unmoving in its upturned lid - it almost slots or clicks into place so there's no need to worry where you left the lid.Postscript added 30th Jan.2018: Two of these exactly and neatly fit a shelf of the I kea Raskog cart (cream, 49quid + p&p); the exactness of the fit is absurdly satisfying :-)  IKEA RASKOG - Trolley, beige - 35x45x78 cmIKEA RASKOG - Trolley, beige - 35x45x78 cm ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Handy lid *by M***R on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 November 2019* This is a good size but I bought it for the lid, which is really handy.
