Our youngest son is seven months old, and we are strong proponents of Montessori pedagogy—specifically the emphasis on independence and freedom of movement. The low-to-ground design allows him to safely learn how to get in and out of bed on his own over time, which was a major motivating factor for this purchase. What genuinely surprised me was how good this bed looks and feels for the price point. At around $160, this is a legitimate Montessori accoutrement made of real wood, not something that feels cheap or disposable. The finish is clean, the aesthetic is simple and modern, and it looks intentional in a child’s room rather than like a compromise solution.
