I used it to replace a 160gb 3.5" in my 4 camera CCTV recording system that had gone very noisy and appeared to be going faulty. Took a gamble at this price to make the change and it worked like a dream. A slight modification to the original cradle was all that was required to fit the smaller drive. It consumes 1/2 the power of the original and is so silent. Being a SATA 3 drive it was basically a plug in with no links to worry about, nothing else to change. The CCTV software recognised the drive and I was able to format it OK.An ideal drive for a SATA 3 laptop replacement/upgrade, but you must make sure your laptop is SATA 3 and not SATA 2 or IDE. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Four Stars *by T***M on 22 July 2015* Good had drive. No faults as yet. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great HDD! *by C***N on 18 May 2012* I bought this due to the higher spin speed to upgrade a 3 year old laptop that was "creaking" a bit. I also loaded Windows 7 at the same time and am absolutely delighted with the results. The power on time due to win 7 AND the HDD start up is aprox 20 secs now (It was well over a minute before) and the HDD is pretty much silent.
