It's sturdy, inexpensive, and the shaker mechanism is easy to use. I find myself using it quire a lot, as it's quite convenient and satisfying. (Much easier than madly jamming the eraser end into something while taking notes.) Replacement erasers are the Pilot MS-10 type, and can be found on jetpens.com. I will warn you that the lettering on the side wears off, (at least on mine, not a big deal.) Also, the eraser feels slightly wobbly at first, but I've had mine for a few months now and it's not an issue. The erasers are also high-quality, which helps. Pair this with some Pentel AIN lead and a Staedtler Mars eraser, and you're set. It is out when using the pencil to write. It does slide back in with the lead. I usually push the top, and then push the lead and sleeve back up into the tip. It does not retract by itself. I suppose I could leave it sticking out, but it would poke holes in my shirt pocket. **Q: There have been two versions of this pencil--is the image shown the exact version of this pencil sent?** A: Yes, at least it was in 2015. I have the old version and this one from 2015.
