Then yes, it would be quite challenging. Without knowledge of spies and their activities the child cannot imagine themselves in the role. We purchased the kit for a 6 year old who loves it and can use it as intended. I would recommend that you wait until the child knows the story of spies, otherwise it wouldn't be used to its full potential and may prevent hazard as a "chew toy". **Q: Is this challenging for a very intelligent 7 year old** A: dunno .. i have an eight year old idiot **Q: My daughter wants to be a spy for Halloween and use stuff that actually works.
