The straps used to pull the locking arms into place are strong and even with my muscle weakness I can get it set up to exercise on my own with ease. Once standing and locked in, it's sturdy and I've never worried about falling when using it despite the fact that I'm a 14-16 and I worried about tipping. No need to worry! I am extremely happy with this folding ballet barre and very glad I got it!
