Anything used will definitely wear out after a time and the Silicone cover also may tear if used roughly at which time one will need to replace it with another Silicone covered spatula.. That is inevitable with any tool. But here even if the Silicone cover tears off after repeated and long use, you can pull it off and you will still have a stainless steel turner which can be used forever. Advantage.
