Review: Love this! - I love this shirataki rice! While it doesn't taste like rice, it pairs well with chili, stir fry, soups, and other dishes that need rice. I rinse it first and throw it in a pan with a little olive or coconut oil. I then let it cook a few minutes to dry it a little. It doesn't have any taste alone, but it takes on the flavors of what you're eating. It's super low carb and calories so it's a good replacement for those of us who have food restrictions. The only thing I don't like it paired with is spaghetti. I'm half Italian, so my mind can't make the jump with shirataki and Italian dishes. I guess you could give it a try though! At ay rate, it has marvelously replaced many rice dishes for me.
Review: When you want texture and not carbs - I have tried different low carb options for a rice replacement. This is my go-to option. It doesn't have flavor, which is a plus since most of the time the rice alternatives bring a flavor to the dish that I don't' want. It has good texture, although a bit more gummy than rice, it is the best non-carb alternative I have found so far. The biggest thing is that I will put it in a pot on the stove ahead of time to get some additional water out of it because when mixed into hot food it releases water. Without any prepping this can be too much liquid. I am also planning on trying a method where I add it into the food earlier and leverage some of the liquid in the dish, just not sure how well it will hold up. If you are looking for a non-carb alternative to rice, I think this would definitely be worth a try, it's my favorite so far
