Review: Moondrop Pill: $50 Audiophile Magic for Your Ears - A Steal! - Wow! How are these **earbuds** just $49.99? I'm not overselling this—it's an absolute steal. These are easily some of the **best-sounding and most comfortable earbuds** I've ever used. The **Moondrop Pill** delivers excellent sound, is incredibly comfortable, and can genuinely be considered **audiophile-grade wireless earbuds**. I don't say that lightly, especially as a proud owner of numerous premium headphones and IEMs. The Moondrop Pill might be exactly what you're looking for if you want to bridge the gap between typical earbuds and superior audio. They're just that good! I recently bought other **open-ear earbuds** just to try out the trend. While they were all fairly decent, none quite fit what I was truly looking for. The **clip-on open-ear design** of the Moondrop Pill is perfect. They're comfortable and fit my small ears perfectly. They don't sit directly in your ear canal; instead, they rest just outside it, making them ideal for anyone with sensitive or narrow ear canals. The greatest benefit of this design is that it allows you to still hear **exterior sound**, which was crucial for me, as I need to be aware of my surroundings at work. The Moondrop Pill delivered on this. However, what other open-ear earbuds lacked, and what I desperately needed, was **great sound**—not just decent sound, but _great_ sound. I needed something that could truly deliver the impact of whatever genre of music I was listening to. And let me tell you, the Moondrop Pill does not disappoint in that department at all. The design is unique, especially the **case**, which is typical for Moondrop's wireless earbud options. I purchased the white variation, and the white/red capsule looks like a large pill. Its **clear, see-through aesthetic** is cool, and opening it is easy. I've had no problem carrying it in my pocket, though I'd be hesitant to put it in a pocket with keys, fearing they might scratch the capsule's surface. It's smooth and unobtrusive. A nifty feature allows you to charge either earbud in either slot of the case, which is a nice touch and convenient when you're in a hurry or just need a quick charge without fumbling to find the correct side. I was introduced to Moondrop through their IEMs, and they all had a specific tuning that suited the various genres I listen to. I listen to a mixed bag of everything: R&B, classical, classic rock, soul, and more. The **Moondrop Pill easily adapts to all of these genres** remarkably well. While the sound quality won't match a premium IEM or headphone, it performs extremely well for an open-ear earbud. The overall sound is **balanced, vocals are clear, and surprisingly for an open-ear clip-on earbud, the bass is really good**. I had no trouble getting a good bass response from these earbuds—much better than other open-ear options in this price range. I also found that it adapted the bass well to whatever type of music I was listening to. There's a **firmware update** available, at least from when I purchased it about a month ago. You can update by downloading the **Moondrop Link App**, where you can also **customize the EQ** of the Pill. Additionally, there's **PEQ support**, which is amazing for accessing shareable tunings from the community. Another interesting feature is the ability to enable **Multipoint**, allowing simultaneous Bluetooth use across at least two connected devices. At this price point, this deal is hard to pass up. If you're looking for **open-ear wireless earbuds** with **great sound, extreme comfort, and environmental awareness** due to their lack of sound isolation, the Moondrop Pill will be the perfect fit.
Review: Excellent and stylish budget open-ear buds - Excellent budget open-ear buds. They are simple to set up, connect to multiple devices, and comfortable out of the box. I put them through a gauntlet of music and they handle most sound loud and clear, with excellent vocals but sub par in some frequencies and older music. The controls are straightforward, though I have not been able to adjust volume yet. There is an app for added features, as well as some extra goodies like wallpaper.

## Features

- 【Futurism:Conceptual Design of the PlLL Series】The earbuds retract smoothly into the charging case with a simple push A twist resets them flawlessly. Encased within a transparent capsule shell. It's full of mechanical aesthetics and futurism. Experience the allure of precision and futuristic design at your fingertips.
- 【13mm Circular Low-distortion Dynamic Driver】The circular dynamic driver is more linear, resulting in significantly lower distortion compared to the conventional runway-shaped dynamic driver typically found in OWS earbuds. With a 13mm diameter, the driver delivers superior bass and dynamic performance that far exceeds the capabilities of standard 11mm ear clip drivers. Additionally, we ensure a comfortable fit while providing a punchy bass experience due to the large rear cavity size.
- 【VDSF for OWS(B&K5128) Reference High-quality Tuning】To ensure optimal sound quality, we use the ultra-wideband reference Danish B&K 5128 HATS for measuring and fine-tuning acoustic performance. This method allows us to achieve a sound experience closer to the natural acoustics of the human ear.
- 【Dipole Directional Sound Transmission Technology】Pill also utilizes dipole directional sound transmission technology, designed based on the principles of a dipole sound source. This innovative acoustic structure effectively counters sound radiation outside the ear canal and eliminates up to 97% of sound leakage* at a distance of 15 cm from the ear, as measured in the MOONDROP Laboratory.
- 【Built-in NPU Hardware-level Al Noise Canceling】The Pill features a built-in Neuron Processor Unit (NPU) core and is equipped with an Al ENC (Environmental Noise Cancellation) algorithm that has been extensively trained and optimized. Compared to traditional ENC algorithms, this advanced technology effectively eliminates noise while enhancing the clarity of vocal sounds.
- 【Seamless Switching Between Two Devices】The Pill also offers dual-device connectivity, allowing it to connect to two different devices simultaneously. Users can easily switch between devices through the app, providing a seamless and convenient experience.
- 【55ms Low Latency Game Mode】The Pill can easily switch between low-latency game mode and high-fidelity music mode through touch controls. This feature delivers a immersive gaming experience along with studio-quality sound accuracy.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent and stylish budget open-ear buds

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good-sounding open ear buds that don't hold back any sound.
*by P***L on July 16, 2026*

The sound on these has let me rediscover old songs that my previous earbuds crushed under bass. The Moondrop Pill has softer bass, but it is better formed and has more impact than bass that simply slams. The bass can also be boosted through various means, such as using the Moondrop app to autoEQ them to the Moondrop Chu II. Vocals are fantastic on these, as are violins, hurdy gurdys, cellos, and tagelharpas. Metal sounds good on these, but the bass is a bit lacking for metal songs. They are open earbuds, so outside sound will still enter your ears. That is what I desire for work and home life when I want to hear music without cutting out other voices. If you want noise-blocking, look elsewhere. They do clip on and stay relatively put, but they do slip down the ear after a while. I do prefer that to buds that clamp on hard and irritate. The touch controls are hard to use reliably, and sometimes I hear a single click register when I turn my head and the touchpad makes contact with my head. The case is my biggest gripe. The case is not pocket-friendly, and likes to spin open in my pocket. It does charge reliably, and the buds last through an entire work day. The exception is the first day I used them, and one bud died surprisingly quickly. After a couple long uses and charges, the earbud battery figured itself out and now lasts all day. If you have battery issues, give it a chance to resolve itself. My phone is a budget model, so its bluetooth sound quality is limited. These sound good on my phone, and the same on a more capable device. The app is very good. It lets you AutoEQ your earbuds to another sound signature, or earbud, or apply your own parametric EQ. It does take time to find what you like inside the app. My favorite modification is to AutoEQ the buds to the Moondrop Chu II. AutoEQ is also usable in equalizer apps like Wavelet and in media players like Symfonium, so the Moondrop app is not the only way to AutoEQ your earbuds. However, it's wonderful that a headphones company includes this thing that audiophiles can enjoy. EQing throug the app lets the settings persist inside the earbuds for use on other devices, so it's worthwhile to poke at the app.
