She is not a fan of it when we first put her in it but gets used to it after 10 minutes or so. It held her up on her back in the water. I do wish I had looked harder to find a neoprene vest. I think that would be less bulky on her and give her more freedom of movement and comfort. I found that the O'Neill life vest was a lot bulkier than the Stohlquist. My son found it uncomfortable when it would push up underneath his chin.
