I went so far as to call MSD customer service and ask why they couldn't make the wires "just an inch longer"? I even offered to pay a little more. I explained that there was too much of a strain on the wire coming out of the spark plug boot and individual coils because the wire appeared to be at a 90 degree angle to the boot. After hearing me out, their tech rep told me that the spark plug metal connector inside the grey spark plug boot was "relieved" in 3 or 4 places so that it could be bent. I asked their rep to explain. He said all I needed to do was take the spark plug end boot and bend it in the middle. He went on to say I could bend it up to a 45 degree angle. So I did as he instructed and it worked like a charm. Use a very small amount of dielectric silicone to lube the inside of the grey boots, and make certain the inside terminal 'clicks' onto the end of your plugs. With the bend, these plug wires fit perfectly without any excess play. I use a set on my 2002 5.3 Silverado and 2007 6.0 LS2 Corvette. I also pointed out to the MSD folks that there is nothing in the instructions referencing this bending of the spark plug boot. I also told them that because they had not bothered to explain this feature, customers are perceiving the wires to be too short. I even told them that companies like Summit Racing Equipment are not recommending MSD wire because they don't fit due to being too short. I suggested their sales guys go out and re-educate their clients and that an additional instruction sheet be put in every box of MSD wire explaining this bendable feature. They completely agreed with me, but it sounds like that has not happened yet due to your question concerning wire length. Hopefully this helps you. These are really very good wires, and will last for many years. Much longer than OEM wires. **Q: Are these the right type lenght ,and fit for a chevrolet silverado 1500 ls with a 4.8l v8?** A: Hi Timothy, yes these will work on all LS series engines- 4.8, 5.3, 6.0. 6.2, and 7.0. The coils are mounted on the valve covers on all LS motors in the same location regardless of the displacement. However, there is one very important detail that you need to know. If you attempt to put these wires on the coil and plug as they come out of the box, you will get the feeling the wires are about an inch too short because there will be a very tight fit with the wire on the plug end being strained at almost a 90 degree angle. I talked with MSD's tech support guys, and they told me that on the plug end, the metal connector inside the plug boot has relief holes and can be bent to a 45 degree angle. Just take the grey spark plug boot, and bend it a little in the middle. I did this, and they fit perfectly without any strain on the wire. I asked why this fact wasn't printed on the box or in a supplemental direction sheet? They were actually at a loss to tell me, so I suggested that an illustrated instruction showing how to bend the spark plug boot be put in each set of LS wires. Hopefully, this has been done by now. You will be very pleased with the performance increase if your stock Delco wires have been on your engine for a while. As time goes on, the ohms of resistance build up to 6,000 to 10,000 ohms in each stock Delco wire. The MSD wires have 25 to 30 ohms because of the copper wire wound around a carbon core. There is no radio interference or RFI to affect the engine Electronic Control Module.
