They are fully adjustable, which allows me to move the straps to accommodate my foot issues. I recently installed cleats and clipless pedals and rode the entire RAGBRAI in these sandals (473 miles in one week). I had the shoes for about a month before that. The only issue that I have with the shoes is that they could offer better sizing. The 41-42 was too small and the 43-44 is about an inch too long. If they offered a 42-43 they would fit perfectly. They are good to walk around in as well. I tried them with socks but that let my foot slide too much so I wear them without socks. I'm giving them 4 stars because of the sizing issue. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for Casual Bike Commuting *by J***G on July 5, 2018* I read quite a few of the posted reviews here, and as usual, I'm grateful for the community of people willing to share their experiences. I suspect that the strong diverse opinions here stem from the kind of bikers who wrote them. So for clarity: I am a bike commuter. My route is about 7.5 miles each way--partly on streets, partly on bike trails. I go at a casual (ie, slow) pace--but even so, I enjoy my SPD clipless system because...well...I enjoy it ;-)For me, these sandals are great in Washington, DC's humidity and heat. They make my ride more comfortable, and I noticed the difference immediately. I suspect they will be great in the rain as well. I did not notice the softness of the sole the way that performance bikers do. I completely defer to their expertise for similarly situated bikers.
