They both say the same thing and both from Nulaxy.** A: The 13.99 stand is a bigger and slightly heavier stand so the phone sits a a little higher. I use it on my bed because it's more stable on the mattress. The 7.99 one is smaller and lighter and is perfect for my desk at work. This one is stable on a solid surface and the other can more or less handle a sofa or bed. They are both sturdy and well built. If I were to carry one around I'd choose the smaller one for convenience and lighter weight. If I were to use a large tablet I might lean towards the larger stand though using touchscreen on a note 4 and the smaller stand works well. I like the phone sitting higher with the bigger stand in bed and the phone sitting a bit lower on the smaller stand at work. Hope this helps. **Q: When setting the angle, does it lock (you need to push a button to move it) or is a friction hold (pushing a little too hard will move it)?** A: The angle is held in place by friction. It is pretty strong so it takes a bit of force to move it. I am always changing the angle and it holds in place every time. **Q: Is the back part where the phone rest magnetized? If not, can a magnetized plate be place to it? That way the phone is attached more secure.** A: The stand is aluminum so a magnet would not stick to it. If you really wanted to make it magnetic you could purchase some rubber magnetic material and stick it on. If you had some type of metal plate on the back of your phone it would stick. It is an excellent design for versatility, and its construction is superb. The metal is thick stock with a durable finish (perhaps it's even a powder coat). The hinges are sturdy and their adjustment has a smooth resistance that keeps the phone securely in position. The base has non-slip silicone pads that do a good job of preventing the stand from moving on a desk surface when using the touch screen of the phone. Similarly, the upper part of the phone bracket has two silicon pads to stabilize the phone. When using my phone while charging, the cord can be passed through the back of the stand to keep it out of the way. The bracket piece that holds the phone is the proper height for placing the phone in either the vertical or horizontal position. Finally, the stand folds flat for storage in a backpack or a small bag.
