I'm a high end caterer and I use a silver polish after cleaning with Tarn-X and Tarn-X Pro. Flatware is stored in silver chests and all other pieces such as serving trays, punch bowls, coffee serving urns, etc are stored in soft cloth bags or pillow cases, then sealed in big plastic bags until used again. Flatware is usually cleaned twice a year and bigger items as needed. There are other products that work as well or better, but only come in very small bottles and it is very expensive to buy and store enough qty to use for dipping. Note: If you are storing misc big items in dish hutch for display, you may have to clean more often, lighting will show up tarnish. Melts the tarnish right off. I clean silverplate and silver items with it and it is just so effective, saves hours of time you might spend using just a cloth. Just remember to wear gloves when using it because cleaners like this are caustic. Also open a window close by because there are some fumes but not really bad. I love it, price is very reasonable. Large economy size as well.
