With the Apple Time Capsule, you'll be able to give your computer automatic, constant protection over a blazing-fast, secure wireless connection. Time Capsule includes a wireless hard drive designed to work with Time Machine in Mac OS X Leopard or later. Just set Time Capsule as the designated backup drive for Time Machine, and that's it. One-click continuous backup for your Mac using Time Machine. Works with multiple Macs. This 4th generation version of Time Capsule features a 2 TB hard drive. It also operates in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands simultaneously to ensure top performance for all your devices, and it provides a Guest Networking option for easy Internet sharing. You'll be able to share your entire wireless network with up to 50 users at the same time as well as turn a USB hard drive into a shared drive that's accessible wirelessly on your network and now over the Internet. One-Click Continuous Backup Time Capsule is your one place for backing up everything. Its massive 2 TB server-grade hard drive gives you all the capacity and safety you need. So whether you have 250 songs or 250,000 songs to back up, you won't run out of room. Depending on how much data you have, your initial backup with Time Capsule could take overnight or longer. After it completes, only changed files are backed up--automatically, wirelessly, and in the background--you'll never have to worry about backing up again. And new technologies in Time Capsule and refinements to Time Machine make backing up to Time Capsule even faster than before. If you have multiple Mac computers in your house, Time Capsule can back up and store files for each Mac running Mac OS X Leopard or later on your wireless network--no need to attach an external drive to each Mac every time you want to back up. Works with Mac and PC Time Capsule with Time Machine in Mac OS X Leopard or later is the ideal backup solution. But that doesn't mean Mac OS X Tiger, Windows XP, and Windows Vista users can't enjoy the benefits of Time Capsule, too. Because Time Capsule mounts as a wireless hard drive, Tiger and Windows users simply access Time Capsule directly from the wireless network for exchanging and storing files quickly and easily. Simultaneous Wireless-N Dual-Band Support The Apple Time Capsule is based on the Wireless-N (IEEE 802.11n) specification and it uses multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) to transmit multiple data streams simultaneously--resulting in data transfer speeds up to five times those of 802.11g wireless networks while also providing up to twice the range. It's compatible with Mac computers, PCs, and wireless devices such as iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch that use 802.11a, 802.11b, or 802.11g technologies. Additionally, some Wi-Fi devices use the 2.4 GHz wireless band (such as the iPhone, iPod touch, and other devices using 802.11b/g). And other devices can use both the 2.4 GHz spectrum as well as the higher speed 5 GHz spectrum--such as 802.11n-based Mac computers and Apple TV. Time Capsule operates simultaneously on both bands, without you having to choose one spectrum over the other--enabling your Wi-Fi devices to receive optimal performance in speed and range. Plus, devices that can connect to Time Capsule on either band will automatically use the best available band. Share a printer with your networked Macs and PCs. Gigabit Ethernet In addition to Wi-Fi networking, Time Capsule includes three Gigabit Ethernet ports for fast wired connectivity with desktop computers, network drives, and more. Guest Networking Capabilities Allow guests to use your Internet connection without sharing your password or giving them access to the rest of your network. Simply enable the guest networking feature using the AirPort Utility application and create a separate Wi-Fi network just for your friends. You can set up this guest network with a different password or with none at all. Your primary network--including your printer, attached drives, or other devices--remains secure. Wireless Printing With its wireless printing capabilities, you can plug a printer into Time Capsule, add it to the printer list on your Mac or PC, and start printing--all without a cable tethered to a computer. Time Capsule uses the Mac- and PC-compatible Bonjour networking technology to let everyone on the network take advantage of one centrally available printer. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Save money on a new Macbook / iMac by buying this 2TB Apple Time Capsule --- Read How >>>
*by R***R on June 4, 2016*

Why did I buy the Apple Time Capsule?Recently I was in the market for a new Macbook Pro so I started doing a lot of research on specs and prices. I am sure you do the same thing with a big ticket item like that. First I looked on Apple's website, then here on Amazon where I found a better deal. I don't use eBay anymore because of the large number of scammers on there, but I'm sure there are very reputable sellers as well. If you feel comfortable there, then go for it.I decided to buy this particular Macbook Pro with a retina display: Apple Macbook Pro MJLQ2LL/A 15-inch Laptop (2.2 GHz Intel Core i7 Processor, 16GB RAM, 256 GB Hard Drive, Mac OS X)BTW, Amazing!!! I am super happy about this purchase and you will find my review on it there as well.As you can see if you clicked on the link above, this Macbook Pro has a very small hard drive (according to today's standards) of only 256GB. But....If I had decided to buy the same Macbook Pro with a hard drive twice as large, so with a 512 GB harddrive, it would have cost me a whopping $490 more! Now, does that make any sense to you? Would you pay $490 for only 256 extra GBs? Not me! It's on things like the size of a hard drive or the additional amount of RAM that the sellers make the most profit obviously. So you have to be a bit more clever than that. Now let me tell you my experience with external hard drives. Back in the days, when I was still using a Windows PC and before the days of cloud storage, I decided that getting an external hard drive was a good idea. I bought one with good reviews, of course, a Western Digital with half a TB. Well, I only had it for 2 years when the entire unit burnt out on me and I lost 2 years of work and many important files and pictures. Man, I was not happy! I vowed I would never use an external hard drive for backing up my computer ever again!Meanwhile, a few years later, I switched from a PC to a Mac and also signed up for cloud storage and backups when that became available. But being a person with tons of large files, such as Photoshop and Illustrator files, a zillion images and many videos, the advertised "free" space was filled up very quickly and I had to start spending about $150 a year on a cloud service. I wasn't unhappy with that but remembering my external hard drive fail, I figured I had no choice. I had to put up with the short comings of my cloud storage. For example, downloading files from the cloud or just browsing them was a big hassle and not exactly a user friendly type of action (justcloud.com). Especially if you have thousands of files and there is no search feature. And get this.... At one point they lost half of my files and it took them two months to recover them. Yes, that can happen apparently! So while I was deciding on which Macbook to get, and noticed the much lower price on MacBook Pros with smaller hard drives, the thought entered my mind that maybe it was time to reconsider getting an external hard drive again.Since I already own every single Apple device out there, I had built up a tremendous amount of confidence in the quality of the Apple brand. Yes, I took a leap of faith here by buying the Apple Time Capsule but I really trusted Apple (and I still do) and it just made good sense. I believe that this unit won't burn out on me, at least not that quickly, but hopefully never.I still own a 1993 Apple laptop, the first one that came out in color, and that funny looking (and heavy) thing still works! So go figure!Let me tell you, after having used it now for about a month, I don't regret my decision one bit right now. For only $115 I have TWO freaking Terabytes of space!!!! Plus it's wireless. It's almost like having a private server that's networked to all your computers because you can share it on multiple computers. I have my 27" Mac and 15.4" Macbook Pro using it. Even if you bought the new version with 3 TB you come out cheaper and with 10 times more space. What I need to do now is download my old stuff from the cloud and storing it on this super cool looking Time Capsule. Then I can finally unsubscribe from the paid services I'm using. BTW I really wonder about the security of some of these cloud backup services, don't you? They claim to be secure yet they lost my files files... I'm not down with that.So here is your best idea of today: Save your money on buying that laptop or computer with the bigger hard drive, instead choose the one with the smallest hard drive available, and buy yourself this Apple Time Capsule as well! You will save yourself hundreds of dollars, get sooooo much more space, and you get the quality and ease of use Apple is famous for!Just do it!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Using with PCs (XP & 7)
*by D***L on February 25, 2013*

UPDATE: Apple updated the firmware, and now, windows access is even easier! The Airport Utility allows you to link the Time Capsule to a windows workgroup name. Clearly, now, Apple is the absolute best network server available.(Amazon, on the other hand, has made updating reviews tedious.)I have an OLD (2004) SimpleShare file server... works fine for 160MB, but it is small and old. Time for an upgrade.A year or 2 ago, I attempted this with an IOmega Media server. It was junk. I salvaged the hard drive and the rest wasn't worth keeping. Very poor support. Unfortunately, the reviews of the WD systems here on Amazon indicate similar problems, slowness of transfers and what not.The reviews of the Time Capsule were glowing... and, several people indicated that it plays nicely with XP and Win7. I decided it was the best option, so it arrived in a couple days.Currently, it is in a minimalist configuration. I did not need the router part, but the wireless access makes it so that the only cord is the power cord. The unit itself is very sleek and nice eye candy (unlike most PC hardware). There was not an install cd, but a short stop at apple's site provided the necessary software (Airport). The Apple part of the setup was a breeze. Even their help manual is clear, with intuitive sections. I currently have it set up to communicate to my other wireless router, probably a performance drag, but it was quick and simple. Some caveats to begin here. Mac's apparently can handle blank spaces and long names easily. Unlike XP, they are apparently case sensitive too. Your device and the hard disk have to be renamed to something windows can easily swallow, so do it now while you are in the setup. The Win7 part was like pulling teeth from a dragon. All Win7 cares about are homegroups, which don't even play nicely with XP workgroups. When all else fails use the\\IP_address\DriveName construct under map network drive.Setup time for the Apple part, less than 5 minutes. The Win7 was under an hour, so that is pretty good for Redmond's stuff.Bottom line, it works better than non-Apple products, even if you don't have a Mac. The Win7 setup is a pain, but no worse than any other device.
