It's based on a natural amino acid found in meats, so really doesn't need to be added.I believe that it definitely doesn't need to be added in the form listed, DL-methionine because it's made in a laboratory from synthetics derived from petroleum; yes, the stuff used to heat homes & power gasoline vehicles/machines!
