Case is not protective AT ALLThis case is awesome! Makes it so easy to carry and hold. Love the ability to stand it up on my lap, counter, bed... lightweight yet durable. The reason I only gave 3 stars is the speaker holes are facing the back. The speakers on the fire are on the bottom. They channeled the sound to the back. Who watches a tablet from the back of the unit? You have to turn up the volume so everyone else can hear the unit but the person using it can barely hear. They had to do work to channel the sound to the back it would have been the same amount of work to channel it to the front. Poor design! Looking at other cases they seem to have the same issue. It slips right over the kindle and she loves the "arms" on the back that allow her to sit it on her night stand, the floor or the table and watch her movies or dance to her music.
