Unfortunately, we do not disclose wattage and here is why. Over the years we have seen posting such numbers results in a spec contest. Specs, and yes even watts can be measured in different ways. For example, receivers take a look at the wattage, then see a number of speakers driven, and distortion rates. All of which vary greatly. Also, watts do not tell you how efficient the drivers are, or any of the components that help the speaker sound great. Thus, telling an incomplete story. Instead, we strive to make the best sounding speaker, that is rugged, water & dustproof, and has a long battery life. All of the things our customers have told us really matter to us. Thank you kindly for your understanding. Regards, Kris **Q: Can I leave it plugged in all of the time, or would this harm the battery?** A: Hi CC, thank you for your inquiry! Yes, it is safe to leave it plugged in 24/7 because charging stops when the Li-ion battery is full. A topping charge is only applied when the battery voltage drops to a certain level. To maximize battery life, however, it is better to not keep it plugged in. Environmental conditions, not cycling alone, govern the longevity of lithium-ion batteries. Do not charge in conditions too cold or too warm (below 41F or above 95F) When not in use, keep the device stored in a cool place, partially charged. Operating condition between 30 and 80 percent maximizes battery life. Lithium Ion batteries have no memory and are not degraded with partial discharges. The worst situation is keeping a fully charged battery at elevated temperatures. Hope this helps! Regards, Sam **Q: Is it better than the JBL?** A: No. But it doesn't pay to compare anything in this price range to JBL, either. They used to be a mid-level car audio company that never found a foothold because they didn't stand out. Their contract with Ford allowed them to survive into the modern era, and they have definitely carved out their niche putting out tiny 24-30 watt speakers that are basically unmatched in the volume department. Whether you like the JBL sound profile or not it's subjective, but in this field, they are the measuring stick and very few come close, because most are 3W x 2, 5W x 2, 6W x 2. As the Sony rep here keeps saying they don't disclose their specs, but nowhere in this page does it explain what the 13 in it's name represents. I'd guess it's 13W, but I'd have to get one in hand and test it to know for sure. NOW In the last 40 years, they've gone from a mid-tier brand with price just shy of top shelf, to a brand that finally scratches the surface of audiophile quality drivers still at the just shy of elite price. So by sound profile yes, better than JBL, but you won't hear it over factory equipment, and you won't be hosting block parties, so again, I'll say NO. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sony Never Disappoints!! *by on Reviewed in India 19 August 2026* Diamond for Music Lovers!!I was looking for a Bluetooth speaker mainly for personal use and for home. My main priority was good music quality and decent audio and bass. And Song's SRS-XB100 fulfilled my requirements perfectly.Pros :-1. Best sound , audio and vocal clarity you will find in this price range.2. Very good battery life3.Dust and Water ResistanceCons:-Though I don't have any cons as per my usage and expectations, but it may sound less loud and audio won't feel like blasting in the room and outdoors.I bought it at ₹2999 from The Independence Day sale.Who should buy it?Music lovers, especially and professionals looking for a small, handy and portable and easy to use bluetooth speakerSomeone looking for quality of music rather than loudness, bass or that party vibe. Please avoid buying it if you are looking for that loud bass that boosts up the atmosphere, though it's bass is also very good, you won't be disappointed, but still don't consider it as a hard party speaker.Ideal for music lovers looking for usage at home and personal use. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thunder in a coffee cup – best speaker in sub-5000 segment *by on Reviewed in India 21 August 2023* REVIEW AFTER TWO WEEKS’ USESony caught thunder in a cup and called it SRS XB-100. This speaker is pretty loud and clear for its size, purpose and price. It is strictly meant for personal use or a small gathering of 6-8 people at best. Yet this little coffee mug outsmarts every other speaker below 5000 Rs.(Note – this speaker is not loud enough for a party. Those who feel that it is not loud enough for personal use may get an audiological evaluation to see if you have noise-induced hearing loss. Since hearing loss from loud noise (above 70 dB / 70% volume) is irreversible, try to reduce the loudness you listen to and follow 60:60 rule.)AUDIO QUALITYVocals are loud, crisp and clear. Bass is good but not over-the-top. Good treble. From my experience, I would rate SRS XB-100 for various purposes as below.Playing music files = 10/10Playing podcasts = 8/10Call quality = 8/10Playing YouTube videos = 7/10Playing Movies & Series = 7/10Generally, 50%-60% volume was sufficient for audio files to be clear and loud enough. Podcasts needed around 70%. YouTube videos, Movies & Series needed 70%-100% and they largely depended on the quality of file as well. Some old BBC documentaries and series played as clear as any music file at 60% volume whereas Avatar, LOTR series and Spiderman needed at least 80% volume.PORTABILITYThe MOST underrated aspect of this speaker. You could take it and hang it anywhere.CHARGING & BATTERY LIFEAbout 4 to 4.5 hours to charge fully. At around 60% volume, SRS XB-100 lasts for nearly 10 hours, 2 hours less than advertised. At full volume, it lasts nearly 6 hours. But it has no fast charging and the chord provided for charging is very small. These are the only cons I felt.SONY MUSIC CENTRE APPIt just tells you how much battery is left, allow connecting with other Sony speakers for stereo effects and updates the software. It serves no other purpose for this speaker.COMPARED TO OTHER SPEAKERS…….From below 5000 range, only Tribit MaxsoundPlus comes close in XB-100’s audio quality. Tribit XsoundGo is not even as good as the good old Sony SRS-XB13 which got replaced by XB-100. To me, XB-100 sounded better than Tribit Stormbox Micro 2, and even Marshall Willen. XB-100 sounds way better even than Sony’s own 24W speaker SRS XE-200.Don’t fall for the gimmick of speakers with more wattage. 1 watt means that speaker can produce maximum 87dB sound within 1 m distance. Whereas as a 20W speaker could produce only 97dB sound within 1 m distance. For comparison, train horns are blown at 90dB. Any sound above 90dB could cause earache and permanently damage hearing. Nobody plays songs and videos at that sound. As the distance increases beyond 1 m, loudness also decreases. So unless you are not looking for a party speaker or something for an outdoor gathering, a speaker below 10W is sufficient. I am NOT talking here about how loud a speaker can get. There is no point in getting a speaker that is just earblastingly loud but lacks any clarity of sound. So yeah. I am completely satisfied with this one. Try it; you too might be. ### ⭐ Totally disappointed *by on Reviewed in India 9 October 2026* Very disappointed with performance with output not worth it 3k ,i would not suggest to anyone to buy this product because there in no return or replacement i believe on Sony brand but totally disappointed with amazon as well as Sony ## Frequently Bought Together - Sony SRS-XB100 Wireless Bluetooth Portable Lightweight Super-Compact Travel Speaker, Durable IP67 Waterproof & Dustproof Shower Speaker, 16 Hour Battery, Versatile Strap, & Hands-free Calling, Black - Silicone Cover Case for Sony SRS-XB13/XB100 Extra BASS Wireless Portable Compact Speaker, Protective Skin Sleeve Shell for Sony SRS-XB13 Speaker Accessories (Black) --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.gr/products/690273011-srs-xb100-portable-bluetooth-speaker-extra-bass-ip67-waterproof-dustproof](https://www.desertcart.gr/products/690273011-srs-xb100-portable-bluetooth-speaker-extra-bass-ip67-waterproof-dustproof) --- *Product available on Desertcart Greece* *Store origin: GR* *Last updated: 2026-10-29*
