Rey de la Vera represents four generations of paprika producers. Smoked pimenton, or paprika, is a staple of the Mediterranean diet and is used to give both color and flavor to many traditional dishes. Rey de la Vera’s unique drying process over an oak wood burning stove gives the paprika the aroma, flavor and distinctive color the La Vera Pimenton is known for. The sweet pimenton is made from the small round ñora peppers, while the hot pimenton is produced from a mixture of guindilla peppers for their heat, and the jarandilla pepper (a long pepper with intense red color indigenous to the Vera region) to soften the bite.

You could use twice the amount or more of the other common ones, and never get anywhere near the flavor of this paprika. The metal tin ensures that it will keep much longer, although the metal lid is a little inconvenient, so just put a smaller amount in a glass jar for daily use. The price is good for such a big tin of it. So the rest of my container of the Sam's Club smoked paprika will get used for rub mixes and marinades, where the flavors are all mixed and then smoked or cooked outside. This paprika will be used when I can savor the flavor of it and it can shine through the dish it is used in.

If you are looking for authentic Spanish Paprika, this is it! The taste is great and it's very affordable. I used this and their hot paprika to make Brava sauce and the tast was perfect! Highly recommended!
