Review: If you're looking for a solid field watch, this Timex is it! ---UPDATE 2026 - It's been said numerous times in many reviews, but this is 100% the best bang for your buck when it comes to this field watch. Keeps solid time, the build quality and materials used are fantastic, if you look for a higher end watch brand for something that is equal to what this watch has, you will be spending WELL over $1K+. I own a Hamilton Khaki field watch (manual wind), which I do love, but I wanted something that was mechanical/automatic, durable, keeps decent time, and has great water resistance (versus the Hamilton's measly "50M" water resistance and doesn't even have a anti-reflective layer on the glass). This watch hits all 4 on the head. I own a great variety of watches, from Hamilton, Seiko, Citizen, to G-Shock's and a few retro mechanical watches, and now my first Timex. G-Shock has been my go to for a daily beater/work watch (currently in the military) and something I can wear in wet environments or even swim in as there was not many field watch options (minus the expensive ones) I would feel comfortable wearing in a lake, river or ocean, let alone wear in heavy rain or have on in the shower. Again, the titanium case, sapphire glass with an anti-reflective layer, movement that has hacking, lume, watch strap, all are worth every penny in this price point. I changed the strap right away as I have always been a fan of NATO straps so that is what I have on it now but the one that came with it was comfortable. I have heard and kept an eye on Timex but there really wasn't anything that stuck out to me so I never bought into the brand, but once this came out and finally got it in my hands, I am glad I kept tabs on them as this is everything I have been looking for in a field watch. Some review's I have read say the rotor is loud, which compared to higher end movements, yes it is but it doesn't bother me any. The other issues I read were about quality control and time keeping issues. I hope that those have been worked out as I have not had any of those issues and as far as time keeping goes, after a day or two go by I usually gain roughly 45+ seconds or more, which, again at this price point is fine and totally manageable. I adjust my watch weekly anyway with the online atomic clock or with one of my multi band 6 G-shocks. I will drop an update 6ish months down the road or sooner if something catastrophic happens to where I would remove my recommendation for this time piece. All in all, if you're looking for a do it all solid field watch, just buy it, you are definitely getting more for what you're paying (I paid $220). ****UPDATE**** 20260422 - 15 months since purchase So, i have had this watch for 15 months now and can say it is holding up just fine. I had to fine tune the watch (adjusting the regulator slightly) as the watch was running a bit fast. Im not a pro and don't own a timegrapher but just from checking it after 48 hours (making a adjustment after the first 24 hours) it went from gaining a full minute down to around gaining around 25ish seconds. This watch has the Miyota 8215 movement and this gain i adjusted it to is well within its specs according to a few websites i found. Like i said in my review from 15 months ago, this isn't a precision swiss movement, its a workhorse and it lives up to that title. Overall, it has been living up to its specs and I have put the watch through its paces over the past 15 months. Ive worn it hiking, camping, swimming, tubing (both winter tubing and tubing on a lake), hunting, fishing and ice fishing, and snowboarding. It's held up to everything i have tossed at it, to include different climates without any issues or failures. I'm keeping my rating exactly the same as the watch has held up just fine and works for what i need it for and it is still a constant on my wrist in my rotation of watches i cycle through.
Review: Great watch; extra great price - I read a lot of other reviews first, and this watch is nicer than I thought it would be. For 220 bucks, it's a STEAL. Some things to note: the auto-wind is no louder than my Seiko 5. I do hear it, but the strap is actually noisier - the leather creaks a bit where the strap loops are. This doesn't bother me and is no different than any other background noise. It's lightweight - a little lighter than the Seiko in the photo but not by much. Lume is good - a little better than the Seiko. BPM is a little less than the Seiko, so the sweep is not quite as smooth, but it's close enough. Aesthetically I like it a lot. The textured dial and raised hour markers look nice and are easy to read, and the grey Ti is sweet. Power reserve is meh - not great; not terrible. Seems like 36 hours or so. Lastly this watch with the stock strap will fit a huge range of wrist sizes. 6in (or maybe less) up to about 8, based on my measurement.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this watch authentic? If so how would I know?**
A: Everything looks authentic and is marked/branded clearly and correctly, including the movement which is clearly visible through the exhibition case back. Plus those attempting to profit through production and sale of fake watches are probably better served in focusing their efforts on much more expensive and storied watch brands and models than Timex (e.g. Rolex, Omega). I mean, how much profit is anyone likely to make by faking/selling a sub $300 watch that probably isn't in high demand and selling like crazy regardless?

**Q: For replacement band/strap, what is the size in mm?**
A: The band lug width is 20 millimeters.

**Q: I have a few Timex watches and the lume is pretty much non existent. How's the lume and how long does it last?**
A: It depends on the watch style, some last up to 5 years some are 2 years. If the Indiglo is no longer working, then the battery should be replaced. If the battery replacement did not fix the issue, there is an issue with the watch itself. I would recommend visiting your trusted jeweler and have them check the watches.

**Q: Which Miyota movement is this?**
A: This watch has a "hacking" version of the 8215 movement.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Get it before sold out!
*by A***N on May 7, 2025*

Unbelievable value buy (sold here $100 off MSRP). Titanium, saphire crystal, automatic movement is basically unheard of in a budget (sub $300) watch market. Maybe with some boutique direct to consumer brands, but that's a lot more of a gamble than Timex. Looks great, sized perfect (for men's watch), lightweight, shock proof, 200m water proof. What else do you need? A replacement band! The cheap/recycled leather is awful. Just awful. I wish you had an option to save money and purchase the watch without the strap altogether. You can find a nice comfortable silicone replacement here for around $20 (sport-minded) Or go all out and get fancy leather or bracelet quality for dress attire. You chose. Side note: I see other reviewers comment on time accuracy (or lack their of). This is not what this watch is for. Let's be real. This is a budget analogue watch with durability to boot. You want accuracy? Get a smartwatch! I wear both. Problem solved.
