I have a 144” portable screen I use for outdoor movies and sports. I was in need of a new projector at a reasonable price. 4K short throw laser projectors were too expensive so the Optoma 1080P was in my price range. Even better, I bought it as an open box on Amazon for less than $1000 and when I received it the box was sealed and never opened, so I got a great deal.The maximum suggested screen diagonal listed for this projector is 120” so I thought I’d take a risk for the larger 144” screen. Works perfectly but the focus is at the maximum limit so you won’t be able to do a bigger screen than 144”. The projector is bright and the colors vibrant. The nice thing with the laser engine is 30,000 hour life and cool down after power off is only a minute. If you can get it on sale or as an open box this is the best 1080p short throw laser projector for the price. ### ⭐⭐⭐ New vs. Refurbished? *by on Reviewed in the United States November 4, 2025* I ordered new but this looks like a refurbished machine.
