Review: So far, so good! - I bought this model to replace a Coleman car refrigerator that served me well for 10 years, then died on the second day of a weeklong vacation. After a few days of use, I am quite happy with it. Having car and wall outlet power cables saves me from having to know where I have placed the adapter that lets me use the Coleman unit indoors. This is a nice bonus. The fact there is a cable management area inside the lid is also a nice step up. The only downside is that the car cable is shorter than on my Coleman--but I have an extender cable, so this shouldn't be an issue. I am happy it will cool as well as warm the contents. I have not used the warming function yet, but it is good to know that flexibility is there if I need it. The wheels are also a step up from the Coleman. Plus, the inside dimensions are slightly larger. This is accentuated by the fact the Coleman had its refrigeration unit on a side wall, which took up an unfortunately large amount of space. The refrigeration unit being in the lid on this model solves that problem. It also does not protrude far into the unit. The larger size and the different orientation of the refrigeration mechanism will allow this one to hold a good bit more than the Coleman did. The latching mechanism for the lid will also ensure a tight fit for the seals. However, when the unit is empty, it does make it slightly more difficult to open to put items into it. The entire unit wants to come up as I try to pull the lid open. This unit is a little bit louder than the Coleman, but not unpleasantly so. It doesn't sound like there's a fighter jet trying to take off in my backseat, so I'm okay with it. With the Coleman, I sometimes had to turn off the car's air conditioning and stereo to be able to hear the fan, to know I had plugged it in properly. I'm not sure yet, whether this will be an issue with this unit. Performance-wise, I was rather pleased with how quickly the inside cooled off. The Coleman seemed to take forever. This one is not absolutely super speedy, nor is it designed to be. It will suffice to say it has performed very well. I have not yet done a benchmark test to see if it does maintain 40 degrees Fahrenheit. However, I have a thermometer and hydrometer I am going to pull out of one of my humidors to test that. Overall, the temperature level inside did seem to be quite adequate.
Review: Worth every penny! - I purchased this cooler for spending 2 weeks in interior Yellowstone Park. Because of the pandemic food was very limited in the park. We wanted to be self sufficient and have our own food so we could focus on the trip and not standing in a very long line for food. This cooler worked like a champ! We ran it empty to cool it initially for about a half hour, added our already cold food straight from the grocery store and we were good to go. We had bacon, sausage, ground beef, and that meat was perfectly cold the whole time. A couple points to note. First you can't have anything sitting on top of it. There are 2 fans that need to be unobstructed at all times. Second is you have to remember to unplug it if you are getting out of the car for awhile. When you shut your car off the cooler will keep pulling on your car battery and drain it. We were vigilant and never had this problem but it's just a caution. I later saw a post from another traveler that they plugged their cooler into a jumper pack instead of their car. It's easy to maneuver, the handle and wheels worked great. We brought it into our cabin, plugged it into the wall outlet, and went about our adventures. When we were ready to eat, our food was fridge cold. I didn't buy a thermometer to test the temperature but every single item we kept in that cooler was fridge cold every time. The size was perfect. At first I thought it wasn't gonna be big enough, but when you're not dealing with ice you can get so much in there. Bottom line is it did exactly what we needed it to do for 2 solid weeks. Love it!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does this actually cool to 40 degrees or does it cool to 40 degrees below ambient temperature? That is a huge difference it gets to 100 where I live!**
A: I haven't tried it yet, but several reviews say it's 40 degrees below ambient. And that's one reason I'm probably going to return it unused.

**Q: How long will it stay cold when not powered?**
A: If powered long enough to get to its maximum temperature of 38F and turned off it will stay cool for approximately 24 hours. By way of a couple of specific examples: (a) I’ve placed a bag of ice in this cooler when it was at its peak cool temp of 38F, turned the cooler in off, and had the ice stay frozen (without ANY liquid water forming) for 6-10 hours depending upon the outside temp, and (b) I’ve placed a bag

**Q: Do you think this is a better cooler than the Coleman cooler for a truck driver? I'm looking at this one or the Igloo one.**
A: Read my review of the Coleman Hot/Cold 40 Qt. Had a Coleman from 2000 that finally died due to a design flaw that allowed the fan to bind in the nacelle/ housing. Bought a new one that lasted 10 weeks. Finally got my refund 4 months later. Can't compare it to this one, but some of the other answers here are misleading. This product is not a portable refrigerator. Those have thermostats and use a compressor. Peltier devices are power hogs - about 5% efficient at transferring heat. So, 95% of the heat you feel on the exhaust of these is produced by the Peltier device, not from inside the cooler. Also, some heat is transferred through inefficient insulation. That's why it takes hours to remove heat from the interior of these coolers before you can start using them.

**Q: 6ft cord is not long enough to reach the back of my minivan, will cooler work properly with a dc cord extension? Is it quiet enough to sleep next to?**
A: I believe it should work with a DC cord extension. We had the cool in our hotel rooms while traveling and had no problems with it being noisy.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Cool Tool. Updating performance.
*by A***R on December 15, 2019*

2-YEAR UPDATE: Very cool product! I have been running my Kbox 24/7 for the past month travelling. 12vdc while driving, then 110vac in hotel rooms. It has been reliable as a constant-on fridge! It does create a small amount of condensation but a small trade-off for chilled food/drink. Cold enough to preserve dairy products @ normal expiry. Still appreciate it's stealthy "I'm just a cooler!" design. And it has proven to be durable and easily cleaned. Excellent product for the price. [PS- re below: Handles have NOT broken... yet] 6-MONTH UPDATE: Still satisfied. A few tech tips: Recently used for beach camping @12vdc, powered by a new large (1000CCA) extra vehicle battery: battery lasted about 48-hours, keeping food/bev adequately chilled (given deep-discharge powering kbox, for later re-charging only use deep-cycle battery). At home, currently using as a full-time upstairs supplemental fridge @110vac. PRO: - On AC, keeps well-chilled. Similar interior cubic area to typical "mini-fridge". CON: - Fan runs constantly. Not certain of the AC current-draw, but that advises a dedicated mini-fridge with a thermostat-controlled fan. - If left unopened while AC-Powered for days, the area of the inside lid around the condensor starts to ice (but doesn't obstruct fan). [Previous notes] One trip so far, but a few notable positives: - Keeps bevs well-chilled (although it isn't currently particularly warm outside). - It is excellent for rolling into any lodging lacking a fridge. - The "cooler look" is discrete, which also may make it less attractive to thieves. The obvious downside is no freezer. I fail to see how its "warm" cooler function would be useful, and would gladly swap that for a freezing compartment. Anyway, it seems like a wise buy. Time will tell re durability and cooling during [Northern] summer months. I'm guessing the handles will fail first.
