Since driving back to the grocery store for a single can of beans seemed a bit impractical, I summoned up my Amazon Prime account on my desktop and went looking for the brand name kidney beans I usually purchase. Fortunately for me, the nationally known brand I usually buy wasn't available, so I decided to try the Whole Foods 365 Organic Dark Red Kidney Beans. I remembered that the Whole Foods chain of grocery stores had been purchased by Amazon a few years ago and had been restructured as an Amazon distributor and seller of Whole Foods products rather than a chain of grocery stores, and recently I had been seeing more ads on television and at the Amazon.com site for 365 organic food products. Honestly, though, I wasn't very enthusiastic about buying an untested element for a basic 4-ingredient recipe plus seasoning, but since taking the plunge and giving Amazon's Whole Foods product a chance, I'm happy I did. The 365 Organic alternative to the brand of beans I have included in the salad recipe for as long as I can recall was an excellent replacement. I am no authority by any stretch of the imagination on healthy organic foods versus standard grocery fare, but I can say that the 365 organic brand of kidney bean was every bit as crunchy and full of flavor as the beans I normally purchase, and I reap the benefits of organic eating on top of it, along with paying less than half of what I usually spend on a can of non-organic beans. And I am not alone in my assessment. Everyone at our table the evening I introduced the new 365 Whole Foods addition to the salad agreed that the dish was just as enjoyable and fulfilling as its predecessors. Additionally, I am relieved that I can now rely on my Prime account to furnish reliable food products to my menus.For those interested, a four-serving salad includes a can of quality tuna (my family prefers the vegetable oil alternative although the water-based variety probably works just as well), fresh and crisp Romaine or Iceberg lettuce (Arugula also works for the more adventurous salad tosser), a basic, homemade vinegar and oil dressing with a little water added as a balancing act, Celtic Sea Salt and 4 or 5-Blend Ground Peppercorn to taste, and a can of quality Dark Red Kidney Beans. Simply drain the tuna and beans then toss all of the dry ingredients together, distribute the makings in individual salad bowls or on small plates, then give each serving a hearty splash of well-shaken dressing topped with salt and pepper.
