While it is 220v and pulls 40amps when heating, I do get a significantly higher temperature rise and I am not required to run my pump or heater 24/7 as I can raise the pools temperature by 20 degrees in just a few hours. I installed this heat pump on an 8’ stock tank. This tank is roughly 600gallons (way below rated water capacity for this heat pump). Initially I was unable to get any temperature rise out of the heat pump so I added valves to the inlet and outlet on the heater to throttle water flow and even then I am only able to get a maximum of a 3 degree rise. The data plate states RLA as 7 amps and some change but I am reading 9-10amps. Add this with the 4-6amps of my variable speed pump running 24/7 and I am having a hard time justifying that this is a more comfortable or efficient option. Review: Does not heat to its claims - We initially purchased the 5000 gallon unit, however it could not keep up to the pool so we thought. desertcart was great and exchanged it for the larger size. This unit has also never kept up to its claims on the product. It never heated past 70's. We contact customer support for the company directly and they were a hassle to deal with. They were willing to upgrade for the price difference which I understand, but with that the unit I have is claimed to be more than ample for my pool size and equipment. Even if we were to pay the difference We got a quote from an electrician to upgrade our power supply would be a little over $900. So we finally came to an offer after several weeks and several calls to accept a refurbished unit of the same exact unit we have, it works for 4 days and completely gave out, not only did this also not even remotely het, it gave out. We tried several other outlets, and even plugged in other devices to the same outlet which did work, and now they wont even refund or replace. They have even blocked my number, as I followed up and it gives me the number is not in service however when I call from other phones it goes through. Started at 68 degrees and it only got to 71. Air temp was 75 so I am not even sure the heater did anything. I used recommended pump for it and my 3000 gallon above ground pool. Had to close the pool valves 90 percent before I could tell the water was warmer coming out of the hose.
