Ray Parker, Jr. First came to prominence as a guitarist, working with Stevie Wonder on his classic Talking Book album in 1972. He them wrote hits for the likes of Rufus & Chaka Khan and Barry White, before signing with Clive Davis's Arista Records in 1977 and setting up the band Raydio as a vehicle for his songs. Ray was asked to provide the movie theme For Ghostbusters in 1984. The title song (featured here in the rare 12" 'Searchin' For The Spirit' remix which makes it's CD debut on this collection) became not only Ray's biggest hit, but one of the highest earning pop singles of all time. 'Ghostbusters' (R&B #1/Pop #1/UK #2/IRE #4) made Ray Parker, Jr. a household name in almost every country in the world. He continued with Arista Records until he signed with Geffen in 1986. He rounded out his Arista tenure with a couple of final hits for the label in the form of 'Jamie' (R&B #12/Pop #14) and 'Girls Are More Fun' (R&B #21/Pop #34/UK #46). At Geffen he hit with 'I Don't Think That Man Should Sleep Alone' (R&B #5/Pop #68/UK #13) and his Burt Bacharach/Carole Bayer-Sager produced duet with Natalie Cole; 'Over You' (R&B #10/UK #65). Big Break Records is proud to present For Those Who Like To Groove: The Essential Ray Parker, Jr And Raydio which features 35 classic tracks and an in-depth interview with Ray Parker, Jr, as well as a foreword written by Clive Davis. The collection is a must for soul, funk and disco fans, and for aspiring Ghostbusters! Review: Ray Parker/Radio Collection a Must Have! - This collection is particularly good for collectors who want the comprehensive overview of Ray Parker and Raydio. While I have discovered some great stuff on this collection, I really bought it for the hits. This is, by far, the best chronology/remastering of Ray Parker's musical journey. I have purchased previous compilations and the recording quality is okay at best. This European import was produced with care and attention to sound detail. It is fantastic and will please audiophiles who recognize great sound when they hear it. Solid!!! Review: THROWBACK THEATER: RPJ with/without the dudes-Pt. 2. - This is a complete listing of music from Ray with Raydio on the first disc and his solo efforts on the second. Both had that smooth grooving, funky, romantic vibes that each was known for and that made me happy to have! Each disc brought back tunes that wasn't on the first disc and had my jumping and swaying and just won't leave my mind. To this date, JAMIE & THAT OLD SONG are STILL my favorites in their catalog! With his group, their voices fit perfectly and as solo, he brought the magic that led his group to the forefront and made even more magic! With this double disc release, Ray with and without the crew made an impact on music that just CAN'T EVER be forgotten! ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B075TQY67Z | | Best Sellers Rank | #110,714 in CDs & Vinyl ( See Top 100 in CDs & Vinyl ) #742 in Classic R&B (CDs & Vinyl) #46,596 in Pop (CDs & Vinyl) | | Customer Reviews | 4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars (168) | | Date First Available | September 27, 2017 | | Is Discontinued By Manufacturer | No | | Label | Bbr | | Language | English | | Manufacturer | Bbr | | Number of discs | 2 | | Original Release Date | 2017 | | Product Dimensions | 5.59 x 5 x 0.28 inches; 4.09 ounces | ## Images ![For Those Who Like To Groove: Essential Ray Parker Jr & Raydio: 40thAnniversary Collection - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71ozAti2dpL.jpg) ![For Those Who Like To Groove: Essential Ray Parker Jr & Raydio: 40thAnniversary Collection - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81Q3EMGzj6L.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ray Parker/Radio Collection a Must Have! *by A***R on April 9, 2018* This collection is particularly good for collectors who want the comprehensive overview of Ray Parker and Raydio.
