The cover plate can be stored inside the table, but not the fire guard.The downside is that the cover fits too snugly. I find it hard to install. Although I like a good wood burning fire, I got tired of the smoke, trying to keep the wood dry, and stoking the fire when it started to go out. You don't have to worry about any of that with this table. It is absolutely beautiful too! It doesn't give off a lot of heat, but the winters where I live are not really harsh. My husband put the table together in about 30 minutes. We purchased the accessory kit and additional fire glass since I wanted "blue" glass and the table comes with "clear" glass. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Too small and difficult cover to get on and even harder to get off. Put the cover on and left it for a few days. It rained and it definitely is waterproof as the water stayed on top of the cover. I removed the water then tried to remove the cover. My husband and I were very careful as it is stated there is a certain way you have to remove the cover. I’m not sure if the cover shrunk because of the rain and all the hot weather here but after an hour of trying to get it off we had to force it and In order to remove it 2 of the corner seams ripped out. Gave tried to get the over back on but it’s impossible so now I am going to gave to buy a new cover from another company. Please make a cover that isn’t so small. It needs a little more leeway in case it shrinks or just to make it a little easier so it doesn’t rip the seams out.
