I decided to give this a shot before changing my whole set up and IT WORKS!!!! Used the cable that came with hub, added the extension to go to my laptop and instantly the monitors were on. I belive the hub has restrictions for cables and my work laptop has so much security I can't just download drivers or apps so I am very happy this cheaper extension(vs $100+ thunderbolt cable) worked.
