Tried only 2D over HDMI connection *Sound*: Not used, would not expect much from it anyway. *Contrast*: good, as expected for the specs *Brightness*: good, not used in broad daylight obviously *High res*: excellent image quality. You really need HD as the projected picture is quite big even if the wall/screen is only 2,5m away. *Noise*: not a problem *Rainbow effect*: indeed noticeable on some types of images, e.g. when the video contains white flashing dots (e.g. something glistening), or something white that rotates. Bearable. There's not much you can do about that anyway unless you want to invest in an LED. Buy your own HDMI cable and 2x AAA batteries for the remote. *Settings*: you can show the picture normally, flipped (proj behind screen), or upside down (proj atatched to ceiling), and there are many preset modes (film, presentation, etc). you can "skew" the picture vertically (trapeze) in case you set the projector higher or lower than the screen. You CANNOT skew the picture horizontally, so the projector has to be in front of the screen (or wall), not to the side. You CANNOT zoom out very much, so if you haven't got much space for a large projected image, like me, you'll end up having to set the projector quite close to the wall, i.e. in front of the couch rather than behind. And since you can't skew laterally... It gets in the way. Also renders the remote useless (since you're behind the captor). E.g. Projecting only 2,5m away, fully zoomed OUT, I get a minimum picture size of ~80cm in HEIGHT... Really quite massive... I guess that makes the diagonal ~160cm, over 60 inches... Very enjoyable :) Overall I really enjoy the picture quality and I am delighted with the purchase. I think its great value for money. ### ⭐⭐⭐ A good projector, but not the best for watching movies on *by S***D on 1 August 2013* I bought this projector with the intention of turning my living room into a little home cinema. And while the projector is good for the price (it is small, relatively quiet, has lots of connection options), it is not the best for movies. When watching dark scenes it is difficult to distinguish much on the screen and the colour isnt great unfortuntately. Also I do tend to see the rainbow affect (a slight flicker of green flashing across the screen) from time to time. However if you are looking to use it to watch films occasionally and are not a hardcore film fan then this should suffice.
