Review: I'm in love! - I absolutely and an ironically love this thing. I'm a hobby writer, and my last laptop- a 11" chrome book sort- was recently victim to a young puppy tripping on the power cord and taking it off a bar to the floor. It was already a smaller laptop, which I loved, so with a brand new excuse to get a new toy, I put a lot of time into looking for the smallest laptops available. They're more recognized brands, but the reviews on this one were a lot more consistent, so I decided to risk it. I had some concerns about the keyboard size, as I had seen a few video reviews on YouTube saying it was difficult to type on, but within an hour of relearning where the punctuation and command keys had gone, I would say I am nearly as fast on this little laptop as I was on my larger one. The key spacing is tight, but the alphabet keys are where they should be relative to each other, so if you were ever taught formal typing, you really shouldn't struggle, but it's also small enough to easily pick at the keyboard with your index fingers if you are a peck-typer. The optical mouse took some getting used to, mostly because you have to physically click and drag to scroll a page if you aren't using the touch screen, but I found it easy to get around that by simply using the up/down keys to navigate. The convenience of this thing is absolutely unparalleled; I can slip it in a bag, or the front of my hoodie, and carry it anywhere with ease, and it charges off of any 30 watt USB c charger/power bank, which will make replacing it when I inevitably lose the original charger, so easy! The first boot was slow, but when I restarted it, everything came on super fast, and there was practically no lead time from launch to being able to open multiple applications without lag. I also immediately installed Chrome and made it my default browser, and have had no performance issues using the non-native browser. The handwriting function is super neat, and I find that the screen has just enough texture to almost provide a paper feel, which is pretty nice. Despite my initial hesitation is about the price point of this laptop, considering that you can get a larger one for less, I will probably never own another full size laptop after this! For the memory, the speed, and the convenience, it's absolutely worth it. I only have two real gripes; the power key is directly above the backspace key, so sometimes you go to fix a mistake and accidentally put your laptop to sleep... And the quote/apostrophe key is positioned low enough that you have to take your hand off the keyboard to be able to press it, and is directly below the enter key, so sometimes you go to make a contraction, and instead break the paragraph you're typing. Both of these are relatively minor, and within a day of use, I am finding myself having an easier and easier time navigating around them.
Review: Mehr bekommen als erwartet - Ich programmiere Spiele für Retro-Computer und nutze gerne freie Zeit unterwegs oder im Urlaub, um an meinen Projekten zu tüfteln. Bislang hatte ich zu diesem Zweck ein Surface Go der ersten Generation, aber ich habe bemerkt, dass mir das schon zu groß ist und ich das öfter aus diesem Grund nicht mitgenommen habe. Jetzt kann das eh kein Windows 11 und ich hatte einen Grund, es auszutauschen gegen ein Gerät, das noch handlicher ist. Diese UMPCs mit 8 Zoll schienen mir da perfekt. Ich habe mich für das Crelander-Gerät entschieden, weil es im Vergleich zu den ganzen baugleichen Rechnern anderer chinesischer Phantasiefirmen am günstigsten war. Angeboten wurde es mit dem N100 Prozessor, während die teurere Konkurrenz zumeist schon den N150 verbaut hat. Der Unterschied zwischen den beiden Prozessoren ist übersichtlich und meine Anforderungen an die Leistung des Geräts auch, also wollte ich die 50 Euro Aufpreis sparen, die der N150 bedeutet hätte. Das war eine gute Entscheidung, denn entgegen der Produktbeschreibung habe ich trotzdem ein Gerät mit dem N150 erhalten. Nächste Überraschung war der beigelegte Stylus (der keineswegs allen Konkurrenzprodukten dabei ist). Entgegen der Bebilderung, einiger Unboxing-Videos und auch der Beschreinbung in der beiliegenden Anleitung war kein Stift mit einzulegender Batterie dabei, sondern ein modernerer mit Akku, der per USB-C aufgeladen werden kann. Der Stylus ist auch magnetisch und hält (sehr zu meinem Erstaunen, da ich dachte, der Rechner bestünde aus Alu) am Gehäuse des Laptops. Transportieren würde ich den so eher nicht, aber wenn man im Café mal alles zur Seite legen will, ist das schon praktisch, wenn der Stift nicht lose rumkollert. Austausch-Spitzen und ein Werkzeug zum Tausch liegen auch bei. Auch unerwartet war, dass der Hersteller eine Schutzfolie auf dem Display angebracht hat. Wäre mir fast nicht aufgefallen, hätte er hier nicht etwas geschlampt. An zwei Stellen waren kleine Luftblasen unter der Folie, von denen ich nur eine mit einem Rakel rausmassieren konnte, in einer anderen ist ein Staubkorn. Im Betrieb fallen die anderen nicht weiter auf, liegen zumeist auch im Rahmen des Displays, darum freue ich mich auch über diesen kleinen Mehrwert. Das sind jetzt allein keine weltbewegenden Features, aber oft ist es ja so, dass man Chinaware kauft und dann dezent enttäuscht ist, weil alle möglichen Kleinigkeiten nicht den Erwartungen entsprechen. Wenn es dann mal andersrum ist, sollte man es auch erwähnen... Das Gerät mach ansonsten exakt alles so, wie ich das erwarte. Es ist bei meiner eher leichten Auslastung erstaunlich "snappy", Booten oder Programmstarts gehen sehr schnell, Performance aller von mir genutzten Applikationen ist nicht spürbar langsamer als auf meiner Desktopmaschine. Ich erreiche wohl bei beiden die Auslastungsgrenze nicht ;) Das hier und da gescholtene "Trackpad" funktioniert gut für mich. Ich musste die Mausgeschwindigkeit etwas runterstellen, weil das sonst zu zappelig war, aber dann komme ich gut damit klar. Um unterwegs ein bisschen zu arbeiten, tuts das. Ich habe aber trotzdem eine zusätzlichen Maus dabei, weil das Scrollrad doch sehr fehlt und das "Trackpadknubbelgedöns" halt auch keine Fläche hat, die das Scrollen abbildet, so wie viele normalgroße Trackpads das haben. Touchscreen und Stift funktionieren, ich verwende sie aber kaum. Die aufgebrachte Schutzfolie und der Stift sind imho nicht gut aufeinander abgestimmt. Der Stift ist recht schwergängig, gleitet nicht leicht. Ich glaube, wenn ich auf dem Gerät zeichnen wollte, würd mich das stören. Als Mausersatz oder hier und da mal eine Markierung oder Notiz geht aber gut. Die Tastatur ist, wie auf allen Bildern erkenntlich, eine QWERTY. Für mich ist das passend, weil die Systeme, für die ich entwickle, auch keine deutsche Tastatur haben und ich in Emulatoren dann auch eine QWERTY Tastatur brauche. Ich habe mich inzwischen halbwegs daran gewöhnt, muss aber doch immer wieder mal auf die Tasten schauen, um das ein oder andere Sonderzeichen zu finden. Darum habe ich auch daheim eine QWERTY Tastatur an dem Rechner, auf dem ich entwickele. Wenn ich da mal einen deutschen Text schreiben muss, stelle ich den Rechner auf deutsch um und finde dann alles blind, wie ich das deutsche Layout über die Jahre verinnerlicht habe. HIER geht das wegen des komplett durchgewürfelten Layouts der Tasten aber nicht. Da muss man schon wissen, auf welchen Tasten jetzt die Umlaute liegen, weil die Positionen mit einer normalen Tastatur null und gar nicht mehr übereinstimmen. Um damit eine Mail auf Deutsch zu verfassen, würde ich vermutlich ewig brauchen und meine Nerven bös strapazieren. Während das Gerät also für meinen Anwendungsfall perfekt geeignet ist, ist es das als Notebookersatz für den typischen teutonischen Anwender vermutlich eher nicht. Also eher was für Techniker und Freaks. Und dann noch zum Akku... Ich kriege ziemlich genau 4 Stunden Nutzungszeit damit hin. Helligkeit auf ungefähr Hälfte (was mehr als ausreicht, das Display ist hell und imho für den Preis auch sehr gut). Längere Sitzungen mache ich eh nicht und in Rucksack habe ich immer eine Powerbank für den Notfall, also ist da auch schnell nachgetankt. Dem Gerät liegt übrigens ein 30W USB-C Netzteil mit deutschem Stecker bei, nicht wie auch manchen Unboxing-Videos zu sehen ein US-Netzteil mit Fummeladapter. Der Laptop ist klein, sehr stabil, aufgrund des Metallgehäuses für seine Größe aber auch recht schwer. Trotzdem packt man ein Gerät dieser Größe gern und leicht irgendwo dazu und hat es dann immer dabei. Für meine Bedürfnisse ist das also ein Volltreffer.

Ich musste die Mausgeschwindigkeit etwas runterstellen, weil das sonst zu zappelig war, aber dann komme ich gut damit klar. Um unterwegs ein bisschen zu arbeiten, tuts das. Ich habe aber trotzdem eine zusätzlichen Maus dabei, weil das Scrollrad doch sehr fehlt und das "Trackpadknubbelgedöns" halt auch keine Fläche hat, die das Scrollen abbildet, so wie viele normalgroße Trackpads das haben. Touchscreen und Stift funktionieren, ich verwende sie aber kaum. Die aufgebrachte Schutzfolie und der Stift sind imho nicht gut aufeinander abgestimmt. Der Stift ist recht schwergängig, gleitet nicht leicht. Ich glaube, wenn ich auf dem Gerät zeichnen wollte, würd mich das stören. Als Mausersatz oder hier und da mal eine Markierung oder Notiz geht aber gut. Die Tastatur ist, wie auf allen Bildern erkenntlich, eine QWERTY. Für mich ist das passend, weil die Systeme, für die ich entwickle, auch keine deutsche Tastatur haben und ich in Emulatoren dann auch eine QWERTY Tastatur brauche. Ich habe mich inzwischen halbwegs daran gewöhnt, muss aber doch immer wieder mal auf die Tasten schauen, um das ein oder andere Sonderzeichen zu finden. Darum habe ich auch daheim eine QWERTY Tastatur an dem Rechner, auf dem ich entwickele. Wenn ich da mal einen deutschen Text schreiben muss, stelle ich den Rechner auf deutsch um und finde dann alles blind, wie ich das deutsche Layout über die Jahre verinnerlicht habe. HIER geht das wegen des komplett durchgewürfelten Layouts der Tasten aber nicht. Da muss man schon wissen, auf welchen Tasten jetzt die Umlaute liegen, weil die Positionen mit einer normalen Tastatur null und gar nicht mehr übereinstimmen. Um damit eine Mail auf Deutsch zu verfassen, würde ich vermutlich ewig brauchen und meine Nerven bös strapazieren. Während das Gerät also für meinen Anwendungsfall perfekt geeignet ist, ist es das als Notebookersatz für den typischen teutonischen Anwender vermutlich eher nicht. Also eher was für Techniker und Freaks. Und dann noch zum Akku... Ich kriege ziemlich genau 4 Stunden Nutzungszeit damit hin. Helligkeit auf ungefähr Hälfte (was mehr als ausreicht, das Display ist hell und imho für den Preis auch sehr gut). Längere Sitzungen mache ich eh nicht und in Rucksack habe ich immer eine Powerbank für den Notfall, also ist da auch schnell nachgetankt. Dem Gerät liegt übrigens ein 30W USB-C Netzteil mit deutschem Stecker bei, nicht wie auch manchen Unboxing-Videos zu sehen ein US-Netzteil mit Fummeladapter. Der Laptop ist klein, sehr stabil, aufgrund des Metallgehäuses für seine Größe aber auch recht schwer. Trotzdem packt man ein Gerät dieser Größe gern und leicht irgendwo dazu und hat es dann immer dabei. Für meine Bedürfnisse ist das also ein Volltreffer.
