Battery usually last a very long time as long as you don't leave it open all the time, so clean and close as you go if you can. It's a fast read time which means you don't have to wait for it to get to the correct temperature that its reading. It's a clear display and easy to hold. The flick/fold out probe means it is easy to use at all angles reliably.I've never had to recalibrate but it seems simple to do. I've generally given some away to people and bought new, so do last a long time. I bought this as a spare for work, but my current one is at least 6 years old and still working great.It would be nice if it had a clip to hold it to the side of a pan maybe but then for the price I can't really complain.F.Oh.Oh.D- understanding food - ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Gold standard of instant read thermometers *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 8 September 2026* Not much to say. It works quickly and it’s very accurate. It couldn’t be easier to use, you pull the needle out, poke what needs to be poked to where it needs to be prodded, and it gives you a very clear reading. No more guesswork for my steaks or BBQs.You get a certificate, which I don’t think is necessary, but is a nice touch.It comes in a lovely range of colours. I can’t really fault it.It’s very expensive for what it is, but you get what you pay for and they guarantee it for a couple of years.Just don’t try to pick anything up by the needle. It is tempting to take the temperature of a chicken leg, then flip it with the pen, but I recommend you do not.The joint of the pen where the probe is attached to the body of the device is fragile.
