For any fitness enthusiast, this book was worth the $2.99 that kindle is charging at the time I write this review. The good aspects of this book: The best part of this book is the section on body weight exercises. It explains in detail many interesting body weight and isometric exercises which I had never done or heard of. In the exercising programming section at the end, also shows you how to use the neuro-mass program using only bodyweight exercises. This is the type of program I will likely try when I am travelling for a prolonged amount of time, and don't have access to a gym. Another good aspect of this book is the pictures. While they are large, and often redundant, as other reviews have pointed out, there is very little confusion with regards to how to perform a movement. The bad aspects of this book: Some of the kettlebell movements seem very technically demanding, and possibly dangerous for someone who is not an elite strength athlete (I am definitely not an elite strength athlete.) In one exercise, you are told to hold a kettlebell in front of you with your arms straight, and then sprint as fast as you can. Another involves a double kettle bell bottoms-up press. I'll pass on both of those. Moreover, these technically demanding and high risk lifts are mixed into a superset with two other movements designed to fatigue.Another downside is that a several pieces of unique equipment are required to do these workouts, which are sold through the publisher. While I respect this author's accomplishments, and found portions of this book useful, it is definitely not the first book I would go to for strength. Several other books I enjoyed more as a novice to intermediate strength enthusiast were: Enter the Kettlebell, Simple and Sinister, Never Let Go, and Intervention: Course Corrections for the Athlete and Trainer. The first book on that list is from the same publisher as this book, Dragoon Door Publications.

Not my cup of tea, sorry

Well....there’s many Innovations on the traditional KB moves in here, but a lot of it seems to me to be about working the KB in whatever conceivable way possible, where any other weight would probably do the job. Such as with pull-ups (KB hanging, OK fine but a plate or dumbbells would be just as good, KB is not optimal for weighted PUs) or for leg presses? ...uh, mostly this exercise is on plate loaded machines so maybe just raise the weight? (Not the most useful exercise anyway).....and so on and so so. I don’t really see why you’ld spend your time doing KB deadlifts when the exercise is perfectly designed for a barbell, which is going to be around 1.5-3.0 your weight anyway, so you’ld need 2 150lb bells....? Why bother with this?...the KB’s great value is in ballistic movement with some grinding overhead yes, but the grind moves (such as chest press I’m saying) with KB’s aren’t really optimal compared to the made-for-that barbells and/or dumbbells or various bodyweight positions....the KB swing and other speed work (snatches, see Kenneth Jay) is what makes the KB so great. The other stuff in here.....hmmm...there’s push ups on spikes, I guess they’re harder to balance than usual PU’s, but you could modify the PU in so many other ways and make it harder, such as 1-arm, plyo’s (which is in the book but we already know these), and of course moving the shoulders out far in front or behind the hands, etc....none of this requires any special equipment. You could also do standing band or cable work and many other modes for intense pec contractions...I didn’t see this approach as superior in any way.Lastly, I’m just sorry to say, hate me if you must, but when a guy features himself in a metabolically relevant training mode while packing some extra 70 or so pounds on, it just sorta takes my enthusiasm away...there’s one very fit lady featured, that’s cool, and another pretty fit other guy, fine, but the main dude is positively obese, which really isn’t healthy. So get that under control please before your show off your fitness regimen. (If this were a book on Olympic lifting or even power lifting maybe forgivable, but this is a fitness regimen at core, so I’m not giving you a pass on bad diet sir.). Fix that before you present your method.

Jon Bruney really hit it on the head with this book! I am a personal trainer and ex professional athlete. I have read hundreds of books on fitness, building muscle and strength in my life, but never have I seen a book like this. It is 100% in my path of thinking of form follows function. This book has to be used with a bit a caution and you need to be fit to use it, but it will make you stronger than you thought you ever could be. Any program needs to be worked into slowly, so I don't mean that last statement to be a deterrent.I am always looking for cutting edge and smart training programs; Neuro-Mass hits this prefect. I have implemented a lot of the book into my routine and my clients with great success. I have also bought many of the "props", so to say, to conduct these movements with. You can see this on the cover with the push ups holding on to the two sledge hammers.Great book, google around and see what others say as well, it will corroborate what I am saying!
