## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can you tell what size it is. Only needed for a 2kg chicken**
A: 11 inches by 8 by 7. Your 4lb chicken will fit. Once you have cooked a chicken in the brick you will never cook another in any other way

**Q: Does it come with a cookery book?**
A: No sorry it doesn't have a cookery book with it.

**Q: Is this pot glazed?**
A: No, the Brick is not glazed. I assume that this is why the instructions ask you to soak both parts "in cold water for 10-15 minutes before use" (pointless to do that after use!), but I may be wrong. I have found the Brick very useful, because after soaking all one need do is put the meat or poultry in the base, carefully place the lid on, and pop it in a cold oven. Switch on and heat to 200C/400F/Gas Mark 6 (or as your recipe suggests). You are asked to add 15-20 minutes to cooking time to allow for the oven to reach the required temperature. I only use it for chicken, and don't even brush with oil; I just sprinkle it with whatever herbs I choose. After cooking you may leave the bird/meat in the brick for a while if you wish, whilst you do other things. The only job which I find to be a bit of a pain is emptying the fat/water after use - no problem pouring, but separating the water from the fat for recycling is fiddly (not the fault of the Brick); you may not have that problem. Then just wash both parts in hot soapy water ( only a little detergent). Scrubbing with a scourer is recommended, but only the base needs a little bit of elbow grease. Rinse, let dry thoroughly before storing away. Oh, and the best part of all (apart from melt in the mouth food) is a completely clean oven!

**Q: Can you use this on a BBQ?**
A: From memory it says no direct heat, so probably not ideal on a BBQ.

## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ chicken brick
*by M***S on 2 July 2013*

Delivered on time in good condition. This product is completely unglazed as I wanted. I had mistakenly ordered a half-glazed brick which I returned, before getting this one.It cooks well so far, and is easy to clean. Make sure to read how to use before you wash it for the first time! - no metal scourers. It is a different method of cooking though and it will take a while for me to get used to it. At the moment the main thing I'm struggling with is how to season the food enough - basically the food steams as well as roasts, so it is healthy but not as tasty as food that is roasted in oil.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nice but do a bit of research before you follow the instructions!
*by K***S on 4 August 2014*

Bought as a wedding gift, I have had one for years and it cooks a beautifully moist chicken. Leeks , garlic & butter in with the bird yields a lovely chicken gravy in the bottom which, when thickened is delicious as a gravy! It would have got 5 stars but for the fact that it advocates washing it in soapy water which is never a good idea for terracotta as it is porous, soaks up the water and then will crack when heated! Don't wash it....just a quick wipe with oiled kitchen towel will suffice for cleaning - the heat kills any germs!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ the real macoy
*by C***S on 6 July 2013*

I had a chicken brick in early eighties when habitat was all the only interesting home decor high street shop.Ive always missed the way a brick cooks the chicken and when I saw this advertised I thought it a little expensive but now ive got it and have cooked with it im totally happy with the quality of the brick and importantly the size,it does take a good sized chicken.
