If you do not have a selector switch this can be used to charge both batteries while the engine runs, but with the engine off you can draw down one (stereo, trolling motor, etc.) while still not affecting your ability to start with the other battery. How the batteries are wired (in parallel) will determine how your system operates. To use this relay you need to split the system, for example 1 house battery, 1 starting battery.
