I guess it depends on what kind of action it’s going to be getting. **Q: How deep can this unit detect metal?** A: On a coin size target 6 to 8 inches and a soda can size target 10 to 12 inches. **Q: Can this be used on the beach in wet sand / shallow water?** A: Yes this coil is waterproof. However most detectors will not perform 100% in sand. I have not tested this but the general consensus is if you plan to beach comb only I would look into more expensive options as the ground discrimination is far better.
