In my view its performance as an emulsion cleaner is limited to use on current 35mm colour film and even then you risk damaging the negative. On older film where the chemical composition of the emulsion may have shifted caution is highly recommended. I would be very wary of using it on any slide film emulsion and certainly never use it on Kodachrome emulsion. If in doubt only apply on the smooth base side of the film. Its better to have a print with with some flaws or a scan you can alter in photoshop than a destroyed negative. I have used it on the base side of 1960s film to remove marks left by condensation on glass mounted slides and it performed very well. Using a Giottos GTAA1900 Rocket Air Blower - Black then a Matin M-6328 Small Size Goat Hair Dust Brush to remove any loose debris is important. Then spray some of the pec 12 on Photographic Solutions 10x10cm Pec Pad (Pack of 100) as the final part of the cleaning routine. Use sparingly or it will leave a residue. It is very strong so don't plan to clean a large amount in one go and keep the area well ventilated.
