The current chest strap design is soft, but it's too flexible, causing the strap to stretch too far and too fast. This reduces the amount of durability of the strap. I can understand the kinetic potential of the strap from the generated during movement, but adding two reinforced strips on each 1/3 ends of the strap will retain the kinetic potential of the strap while increasing the overall durability. It's a cheap investment to gain a bit of relief from the pain.
