Review: Brilliant! - I hesitated for ages before getting a cast-iron pan, but I wished I had bought this earlier. Excellent value, this has high sides, a useful helper handle, and the pre-seasoned coating is absolutely amazing. First time out my steak didn't catch once. This cooks the most amazing seared and succulent chicken breasts, and is useful for all sorts of cooking. I don't worry too much about the cleaning regime. I've had it for a couple of months now, and simply wait until it's cool before running it under water and use a scrubbing brush to dislodge the debris. I then put it on the hob for a few minutes to ensure all the moisture has been driven away, and that's it! The coating gets better as you use it, just ensure you don't leave it wet.

**Q: where is this made?**
A: The cast iron skillets made in China that are made for use in the USA have to meet specific FDA regulations.  So grab them up quickly as the current administration in Washington DC is getting rid of a LOT of regulations for clean air, clean water, specific regs for cooking utensils made elsewhere.
Otherwise get Griswold, Wagner, or Lodge pans all made here in the USA.  Or you can go to yard sales, farm sales etc and find one made 75 years ago.  
But come on!  How many great chefs do we have here?
As a doctor I love the people who get upset about cast iron pans, then drink sugar sodas (probably #1 for obesity and heart disease) and all processed foods.  Folks who go for gluten-free when the only people who need it are those with celiac disease...and so on.  These Chinese made pans are cheap---that’s why we buy so much stuff made in China.

**Q: is it made in the USA??**
A: What you should really be worried about is that enameled cast iron is known to have lead, nickel,cadmium, arsenic and other types of heavy metal poisoning issues. That goes for any company US or overseas. Plenty of people have Asian branded phones and other electronics so I don't know why I keep seeing things like stop buying products from China. Plus the Chinese were the first to manufacture cast iron on a grand scale. Please do your research before speaking or commenting. When it comes to the enamel process it has to do with the pigments they use that contain heavy metals not the actual process. If you're buying enameled cast iron note that it's not done in the US. It's always done overseas even Lodge's enameled cast iron is made in China. If you believe any cast iron you own or buy has lead you can buy a lead testing kit from Walmart to test it.

**Q: Is This Dishwasher Safe?**
A: Never put cast iron in a dishwasher!

**Q: What if I accidentally washed the pan in the dishwasher for the first time, and now it's rusted. Is there a way to clean it, or do I buy a new one?**
A: Remove all the rust: Use fine steel wool to remove rust from affected areas. Scour the skillet until the area returns to raw cast iron.
Wash the skillet thoroughly: Wash the cast iron with warm water and mild dish soap. Scrub with bristle brush, gentle scouring pad, or mesh sponge if needed.
Dry the skillet: Thoroughly dry the cast iron immediately with a clean dish towel or paper towels.
Cover the pan with a coating of oil: Apply a small amount of vegetable oil (or cooking oil of choice) to the entire piece.
Don't forget the bottom and handle: When oiling, don't forget the bottom and handle. Use only a small amount to avoid a sticky surface.
Place the pan in the oven: Place the cast iron upside down on the top rack of your rack. Place a sheet of aluminum foil or a foil-lined baking sheet on the bottom rack to catch any oil drips. Heat the cast iron for one hour at 350 degrees.
Let the pan cool before using: Turn off heat, let cast iron cool, then get back to cooking!

I’m impressed with the quality of this skillet. The pre‑seasoning is good right out of the box, and it only gets better with use.
