It's more comfortable in the ear than I expected, too! It does enhance my hearing quite well, but if there is a fan or air conditioner running nearby while watching TV or listening to music, it isn't as effective due to the background noise. I suppose earphones in such situations would be better. Not really a fair "complaint", and I expected that would be the case. I really don't know about "live" conversations with the A/C running. Might do fine. Haven't had a chance to really check that out, yet. I have had visitors when the A/C was off, and found that I could hear our conversation quite well with the Vorfruede. The volume dial is a challenge for me, though. I have arthritis and carpal tunnel..so the tips of my fingers don't have very good tactile sense. I have to remove the device from my ear and watch while I try to turn the little dial. Can't really do it by feel. Again: not really the hearing aid's fault. It's just a condition I have that complicates things. Bottom line is, for the money, this thing really is effective and does help with slight to moderate hearing problems. Worth checking out! Instead of buying $5000 hearing aids, I ordered two of these for the time being. The sounds are loud and clear. I hear every little thing...every creaky noise, distant conversations...the wind. The piece is kind of bulky for my taste. I have to stick it far into my canal so it won't look weird barely hanging out of me ear. After a while, it gets itchy. But other that that, it works great! I wish it amplified certain sounds or frequencies so that my ears aren't overwhelmed. I'll use them for class and when I'm at work for sure.
