Q: Why do i have to be standing right next to the charger to use the wifi connectio?. This is very inconvenient

Q: Can this connect to a home router or do you have to connect your phone directly to the charger to use the app?

it cannot connect to a home router. if you want to use the web-app, you have to connect your phone to the charger's wifi network, then open the web-app in your phone's IE browser.

Q: Will this work if we don’t have internet connection where we live?

Yes, the web app works without internet. The Wi-Fi is built in the charger, so it doesn’t need the internet.

Q: Is the clock button a timer delay, or to set duration/hours of charge?

The Clock Icon sets the duration of charge. I don't use any of the features in the charging cord. I use the car to control the charging. BTW, this is a terrific charging cable that out performes the factory cable (40amps vs 32 amps)
