It does have an obvious "shop" or chemical smell, but the results are well worth it. We had a house fire and the majority of the metals coming back from the restoration company were corroded, tarnished, and considered destroyed. With a combination of applications, MAAS metal polish, and elbow grease, this has restored many heirlooms and household items that would otherwise have been lost. This is the soft polish so if you are unsuccessful in "restoring" your item, the tube says to use the original, red, polish that is more abrasive. In one moment of insanity, I used this on my drip pans that I was about ready to toss becuase they had so mush carbon and burnt grease! This restored my pans to looking brand new!
