Put it on the blade with the blade running through the centers of the metal parts. Now rub sharpener back and forth along the blade. Keep doing that over and over but start adding some "downward pressure" on each pass until you start noticing that when you are rubbing in one direction the sharpener just seems to slip and slide along but when you go the other direction there's some "resistance". That's when the sharpening is happening. Now that you know which direction is sharpening the blade, push down on the sharpener as you slide it in that direction and relax when you bring it back to the beginning. Keep doing that until the brown, rusty color on the blade edge disappears and you see clean, shiny bare metal. It takes some effort, but mowing with a fresh sharpened blade is rewarding . . rewarding enough that you won't dread doing it again after you've gotten the hang of it. (It's not like you need to do it every time you mow, anyway) I don't remember what I paid for it, but it was definitely worth it, and I would buy it again if I were to lose this one. It seems to be made well enough for the money as well. Review: Makes Lawn Mower Like New - Excellent Does EXACTLY what it says...Sharpens lawn Mower Blades so the Mower is LIKE NEW. EXCELLENT. ### ⭐⭐⭐ awkward, low quality but does kind of work *by S***K on 27 December 2024* As stated. probably better to use a file or alternative. It's hard to get an even sharpening, doesn't go that sharp and takes lots of material off. ## Frequently Bought Together - AAAQQ Reel Mower Sharpening Kit SK-2 for American Lawn Mower, Lawn Mower Blade Sharpener Tool for Great States,Scotts,Earthwise Reels. - American Lawn Mower Company SK-1 Reel Lawn Mower, Compound Sharpening Kit - American Lawn Mower Company 1304-14GC 14-Inch 5-Blade Push Reel Lawn Mower with Grass Catcher, Mint --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.gr/products/636895724-sk-2-reel-lawn-mower-hand-sharpener-for-american-lawn](https://www.desertcart.gr/products/636895724-sk-2-reel-lawn-mower-hand-sharpener-for-american-lawn) --- *Product available on Desertcart Greece* *Store origin: GR* *Last updated: 2026-10-17*
