I wanted a portable sewing machine that I could use for small projects instead of having to be in the room during nap time. I finally opened it over the weekend and was unpleasantly surprised. This sewing machine works - it has a top thread and a bottom thread, but that is about the only nice thing I can say about it.Here's what I am very disappointed about it:1. It has a European electricity adapter. That was my first disappointing shock - forget plugging it in, you'll HAVE to use batteries. Did it work after I rounded up the 4 AA batteries I needed? Yes.2. It is loud and klunky. I am not sure if the needle is any good, or if it is to blame for some of the klunkiness, but I wasn't prepared to go through the hassle of replacing it with one of my good ones to find out.3. There's no way to control the bottom tension. I am by no means a master seamstress, but I don't like there being slack on the lower thread and tension on the upper thread.4. There's no way to backstitch, so you can't lock the start and end of a run.Conclusion: My concern is that if you've never sewn before and you buy this little guy as a starter piece of equipment to see if you like it, you will be turned off to sewing because it's not a very user friendly machine.
