Your question: the mechanism thinks the time is 5 minutes ahead of the minute hand. I would gently and slowly move the minute hand ahead five minutes but not during the period five minutes til the hour until five minutes after the hour. That is how I would coordinate the hand with the chime. See how it does at the next chiming time. You may have to remove clock battery for 5 minutes to adjust to proper time since you should not turn chiming clocks backwards to correct the time. You really screw things up doing that.
