A: It's metal but I don't believe it's steel.

A: stainless steel plated gold

**Q: What county is it made in china??**
A: If it was made in China I didn't see that stamped on the watch. since it is a higher priced Casio product I would be in clined to say it may be Japanese made.

I am reviewing this after 8 year.. its best ever watch because it does not need any cell..because it has tough solar and here is the best part ..it can charged by room bulb light.....and trust me...it is as working fine as brand new....
