They don't work as well for kids bumps and bruises because they aren't flexible and they are very cold. I wrapped a thin dish towel around it when I used it on a toddler's bruised knee. However, it kept falling off because it was stiff, rigid and slippery. They are also more expensive than some other I have that work just as well for keeping lunches cold.
